Another gunshot from behind forced you forward as fast as you possibly should. Trees and branches hit your face, cutting your arm and catching your clothing.
Eventually, a branch caught your clothes. Unable to move, you began crying, trying to break free. The people chasing you came closer. A bullet went by your feet, making you scream and break free. Once more, you were on the run until your upper arm was shot. Squeaking, you grabbed the now bleeding wound painfully and continued.
Suddenly as you broke out of the brush, you knocked into someone and backed away painfully. The man looked kind and gentle, looking more shocked at the fresh wound.
Coming closer, he tried to coax you. "H-Honey...? Where did you get that...?"
"D-Don't hurt me..." You whimpered, breaking down in sobs as the people hunting you came out of the brush. You screamed and threw yourself into the man's arms in hysterics. "D-Don't let them touch me! L-Leave me alone!"
"I'm sorry about her." One of them said, holding their hand out and lowering the gun. "Come on, we need to go home you little pest."
He reached towards you but the man holding you pulled away. "I can't do that. Now I suggest if you two want to get out of here unharmed, you will leave her alone."
"Oh yeah." The man scoffed, looking towards the other. "Who's gunna stop me?"
Behind you, another man came up, much scarier and glaring at the one holding the gun. For awhile, they just stood there in silence before the man with the gun backed away. "Fine...keep the little shit...what do I care?"
He left, leaving you alone with the two. Tears started streaking down your face silently. The scary man leaned over and began to wipe your tears as you began bawling.
"Hold on..." The one holding you whispered. "Berwald...we need to get her back home quick...she's loosing a lot of blood..."
He nodded as they began walking quickly. The other man ripped off a piece of cloth off his shirt and wrapped your injury up tightly. "Stay with us, okay? I don't want you falling asleep."
"I-I wanna s-sleep though..." You whimpered softly. "I-I'm so tired...! I-I ran and ran...!"
"Stay awake...please don't fall asleep..."
Relaxing your head on your shoulder, you found it nearly impossible to stay awake. He shook you gently in his arms,"no no, stay awake for a little bit longer...!" You didn't answer, your eyes closed. "Please...!"
The next you awoke, you were laying down on a couch with a blanket covering you. Dazed and confused, you examined a living room, empty and silent. Then, panic struck. You didn't want to be alone again.
"M-Mama! Papa!" You instinctively cried out, knowing no one would ever answer. As if anyone ever had. Which is why when you heard someone running down the stairs, you were taken aback. The man carrying you yesterday.
He knelt beside you and began wiping your face. "W-What's wrong...!? Why are you crying...!?" The other man entered the room, Berwald was it? "I don't know what's wrong...!"
Berwald came over silently, sitting beside you and lifting you onto his lap and stroked your hair. "Wh't's wr'ng...?" He brushed the (h/c) strands from your face and carefully wiped your eyes.
"I-I'm hungry..." You said in a low voice as your stomach growled. "I-I'm cold a-and tired a-and alone...a-and...and...!" Once more, tears spilled over quickly and Berwald simply just rubbed your back. "N-No! D-Don't touch-"
You squealed in surprise as he brushed his fingers against your wings. He quickly pulled away as you looked back to see you were wearing a different shirt, holes slit in the back so that they showed. Flexing them out halfway, you checked to see if you had any injuries.
"Berwald...why don't you go make something for her to eat." The man said softly, grabbing you under your armpits and lifting you in his arms. "I'll explain everything to her."
He grunted in response as he left to make something. "So...my name is Tino. That other man is Berwald, my partner. What's your name, firstly."
"______________..." You whispered, attaching yourself to him.
"Such a pretty name..." He noted, playing with your (h/c)(h/l) locks. "Well, we carried you here and found a bullet in your arm...and your wings quickly after. I washed you up while Berwald found a shirt and cut the back open for you. For now, you need a lot of bed rest. "
Berwald came back in carrying soup, sitting beside you and Tino before taking a spoonful. He blew on it, cooling it off before feeding it to you. Both of them noticed how tired you were and allowed you with eating only a little bit of the soup.
Tino lifted you up, cradling you as he carried you to a bedroom. Laying you beneath the sheets, you began to succumb to drowsiness once more. Tino sat beside you and gently rubbed your shoulder.
"Do you need anything else...?" He asked softly, getting up to leave. Before he could go, you grabbed his pant sleeve and making him sit down once more. "Is something wrong...?"
"...don't leave me a-alone..."
Seeing you on the brink of tears again, he quickly laid down beside you and pulled you close. "D-Don't worry! You won't be alone again! We're gunna watch you from now on so don't be sad, please."
Nodding, you snuggled up closer and rested your head on his arm. Berwald sat down beside you both, brushing your hair as you fell asleep.
You liked living with Tino and Berwald. Since you had arrived, you had received nothing but kindness from the two. Whenever you were scared or frightened, they comforted you. When you were bored or lonely, they would find something for you all to do together.
The first few weeks, they set up a room and everything for you but it was pretty evident that you refused to sleep without anyone for each day, you would crawl into their bed after they had fallen asleep. Eventually, they just started putting you to sleep in their bed.
Going into the kitchen, you noticed Tino on his tiptoes, trying to reach something completely out of his range. Hopping up, you allowed yourself float above him. He smiled, pointing out what he was trying to grab. Smiling back, you grabbed the box of mix.
"Are we baking today?" You asked, dropping into his arms. He ticked your stomach, making you giggle. "P-Papa!"
"Do you wanna make brownies with me?" He said, taking the mix from you. "I need some help and if you really want to..."
"I wanna help!" You bursted, clapping your hands together. "I wanna help! Please!?"
He chuckled and kissed your forehead. "Okay then, we can bake-"
"Papa?" You suddenly asked, your eyes glued to the window. "What's that white stuff falling from the sky?"
Looking out the window, he smiled. "That's snow. I didn't know it was supposed to snow today...Berwald! Get the snow shovels from the shed before the snow starts getting bad!"
"Papa! I wanna go in the snow!" You beamed, jumping in his arms. "Please!? Pretty please!? Pretty please with sugar on top!?"
"Okay, okay." He laughed, carrying you to your room and grabbing your jacket. "Just for a few minutes and then we can go make brownies."
He carried you out, the little flakes fluttering around you. The world was so silent, a gentle wind blowing the snow around you. Extending your arm, you tried to grab some of the flakes.
"Here." Tino said, making you giving him your attention. Hold your tongue out and try to catch some like this-" he demonstrated, sticking his tongue out and trying to catch the white little flakes as they fell.
Leaning back, you did the same until you felt a cool drop on your tongue. "Papa! I did it! See! Aren't you proud?" He smiled and watched as you continued to do so before coming in and stripping your coat off.
"That was a lot of fun!" Tino took your jacket and carried it away as Berwald reentered, taking off his hat, covered in snow. "Daddy! We're gunna make brownies! You wanna help!?"
A twitch of a smile came on his lips as he took his gloves and coat off, hanging them on a dinning room chair. He then lifted you, making you squeal in delight and hug his neck. "Ok'y."
Even though you promised to help, you grew bored and paid more attention to the winter wonderland forming outside. After a short while, you just curled up and took a nap near the back door.
Berwald shook you awake, taking you in his arms and carrying you to the couch where once more, you fell asleep safe in their custody.
