The air was cold as you and your young Norwegian friend, Lukas, walked along the darkened streets nearby the water. He was holding your gloved hand, watching you as you walked along with your face buried in your scarf.
"Did you hear? The new president of the United States...Obama, I think...he's going down to Oslo tomorrow to receive a Nobel Peace Prize. Pretty cool, huh?"
"He's much farther than where we are." He spoke softly, brushing his thumb against your hand. "Oslo is closer to Denmark. We're nearer to the ocean. By the way, why are you wearing such heavy clothes?"
"It's cold..." You murmured, hiding your face once more. It was below freezing, too cold in your opinion. "Can we go back to your house now...? I'd really like to warm up..."
He smiled, a gentle twitch of the lips but a smile nonetheless. "Yeah...I'd hate for you to catch a cold. I'll get you some cocoa or soup when we get back..."
As you began to leave, something stopped you. The Norwegian quickly noticed and paused, quickly spotting what you saw as well. Above you in the sky, something unexplainably shocking was soaring through the sky.
Fumbling for your phone, you began recording what you saw that (at the time) could only be explained as a UFO. There, in the sky was a white light, spirals spinning around the light and a trail of blue light following behind it.
For a few moments, Lukas and you stood there. He looked at his watch,"It's 7:50...I wonder how long this is going to last." After another moment or so, the bright light extinguished, the darkness going inward, out.
When it had finished, you looked at Lukas with worried eyes to which he returned with a short, comforting hug. Taking your hand, he began quickly leading you away.
"I need to call my boss..." He muttered under his breath, looking rather confused and almost scared. "When we get back to my house, I'm going to call my boss. I'll get you some cocoa..."
"Thanks." You spoke simply, tucking away the phone with the video evidence.
Lukas quickly worked to open the door to his home, flicking the lights and rushing towards his office. Simply, you took off your hat and coat as he began speaking Norwegian with his boss. For awhile, you sat still in his bedroom. Hours passed and by the time he was off the phone, you were asleep on Lukas' couch, the television on with BBC.
Turning the television (which was streaming the videos of this phenomenon) off, he lifted your deadweight and carried you to his room. Tired himself, he began to drift off beside you, holding onto your body loosely he fell asleep.
The next morning when you awoke, there was complete silence. Getting up from the bed, you wrapped Lukas' blankets around you. Walking out, you found him with his head on the table and a coffee mug in front of him.
Knocking lightly on the wall, he looked up and sighed slightly. "Did your boss tell you what the hell that thing?"
"It was apparently a Russian missile...he told me last night it wasn't." Turning his head to the side, he rested his head. "Apparently it was a failed missile. It spun out of control and eventually disappeared. Nothing bad."
"Still, it looked pretty cool..." Sitting down beside him, you rubbed his shoulder. "Do you wanna go lay down for a little while longer...? You look exhausted."
"Yeah..." He murmured, looking towards you with relieved blue eyes. "I don't even like coffee..."
Standing up, he swayed to the side slightly. You gave some of the blanket to him, helping him back to bed. The second his head hit the pillows, he started to drift off to sleep.
"Did your boss keep you up all night Norge...?" He nodded, not opening his eyes. "It's okay...just rest for a while. You've had a long night and I think you would benefit from some sleep..."
You went to leave but he grabbed your hand and refused to let go. Laying back down beside him, you snuggled up for warmth. He brought his head to the crook of your neck and rested in your arms. "Thank you."
"It's not problem." You kissed his temple, shutting your eyes. "In exchange, if the Russians were lying and that was a UFO, you have to protect me from the aliens..."
He nodded but he was currently just trying to keep you from noting the blush on his face.
