You flinched, shifting over unsure and sat silent once again with hands on your knees. Then you moved at the slightest of sounds. Frozen in place once more with hands clamming up and hyperventilation near ready to start.
Ludwig breathed out a sigh, resting a hand on your shoulder and making your entire body tense, the hair’s on the back of your neck sticking up. “I don’t understand why you’re so worried. All they’re going to do is take a little bit of blood.”
“B-Because...” You started only to trail off with little confidence left. “N-Never mind...can you just hold my hand right now...?”
He rolled his icy blue eyes and took your hand, quickly pulling away. “Geez _____________, you’re hands are all sweaty...” When he saw the worrisome look within those big (e/c) eyes of yours, he sighed and took your hand again. “Alright then, don’t worry. Do you want me to come with you...?”
“Y-Yes please,” your voice murmured low as you gripped his hand with some of the nervous strength you had. “Thank you-”
“Miss ____________, you can come in now.”
Your body tensed to the point where you had to reluctantly be pulled out of the waiting room chair. “Come on. It’s not that bad _____________.” The German man muttered in a calm voice.
“Yes it is actually.” You said in a matter-of-factly voice, being half-pulled into the examination room. “The last thing I want to do is have to lay down and let a doctor prod me with needles and extract blood from my veins!”
“Stop being so melodramatic. Honestly, I’d believe you were Feliciano the way you’re acting.” He sighed as you were forced into the room. “It’s a medical procedure that you need to have done.”
“I don’t feel sick!”
He grabbed your shoulders, spinning to look at you with serious eyes. “Well I’d rather have you be tested and be negative than you actually being sick and laying sick in a hospital. It’s alright. I will be right here if you need me.”
The doctor checked your heart rate, asking questions as to why you needed the test in the first place. Simply, you explained that you've had a fear that you have developed anemia - meaning a deficiency of iron in the blood - and wanted to be sure that if you did have it that you could have it taken care of.
Yet he could see the panic in your eyes when he tied the band around your wrist and explained that he was looking for the vein. A hand lightly gripped yours, making you look over to see Ludwig giving off a shy little smile and brushing the skin.
“Alright. You’ll feel a slight pinch...” You squeaked, feeling a little pain and froze knowing there was now a needle in your arm. Ludwig carefully took your face in his free hand, turning it slowly away and sliding your eyes shut. “See, not so bad. We just need to wait a few minutes, another little pinch and you’re all done.”
Your mind spanned little attention to the doctor those, just concentrating on breathing and holding tight to Ludwig’s hand. He carefully brush the top of your hand with the pad of his finger until you felt the needle get pulled from the skin and your finger was placed on top of a small bandage on your arm to keep from bleeding. The doctor allowed you to lay there for a short while and left with the blood you've just had drawn and left you alone with Ludwig.
Your eyes opened up, just staring at the ceiling. “You should keep your eyes closed for now _____________...”
“I’m alright.” You smiled, just realizing your hand was still in his. He noticed this too and pulled away sheepishly. “Sorry Luddy.”
“N-No, it’s fine.” He turned away bashfully and hid a blush that now stretched to his ears. “It’s my fault for taking your hand. I was just...surprised when I noticed...how frightened you looked a-and...I wanted you to feel...less scared...is all...”
You smiled at him, relaxing as his hand held yours once more. “Luddy, can you get me a lollipop?”
He let a chuckle roll out, kissing your hand and nodding. “Yes, if you really want one.”
On your way home, you continually looked at your little band-aid and prodding at it. In your mouth, a cherry-flavored lolli. Ludwig looked over, letting a little smile surface on his usually-stern face. "You seem to be feeling much better."
"Mhm," your eyes went onto his figure with a child-like expression on your face. You took the lollipop out of your mouth. "I'm just glad it's over-"
His hand quickly slid behind your head, pulling you close for a chaste kiss. His eyes immediately went back into the road, he cleared his throat and nodded. "I-I'm glad you're feeling better..." He coughed awkwardly into his hand. "Y-You'll be okay the next time you go...?"
"As long as you're there..." You murmured, covering your pinked cheeks.
