You watched as the distance between you and the ground slowly increased. Gripping onto your boyfriend Francis' hand, you tried to keep your nerves settled.
Looking towards him, your (e/c) eyes met with his sparkling blue ones. Seeing his calm gaze on you, your nerves relaxed. "Francis...are we even allowed to be going up here...? I mean, it's Christmas Eve night and no one else is allowed-"
He pressed his fingers gently to your lips, silencing you with ease. "Don't worry mon ami. I 'ave special...privileges which allow us up 'ere. Don't worry so much. Enjoy ze view!"
Pressing your face to the glass, you could see snow gently falling to the ground and the whole city of Paris lit up for the Christian holiday. A smile came on your lips, your hand finding Francis' and gripping it softly. "It's beautiful up here..."
"See. Trust me sometimes ____________. I would not let you up 'ere if we weren't allowed." He said, lifting your hand up and pecking it gently,"I understand ze rules. I just want to show you somezing from ze top."
For awhile, both of you sat in silence. Once you were assured you were at the right height, you both stood up hand in hand and walked out. Francis readjusted your scarf before stepping outside with you.
When you stepped outside, you felt like you could see the whole of the country in front of you completely lit up. Your eyes were sparkling as Paris was lit up in front of your eyes.
Francis chuckled lightly, coming to the rail beside you. "Do you love it? I used to come up 'ere all ze time on Christmas. I should 'ave brought some wine wis us for zis."
You laughed, leaning on his shoulder. "Francis...you know I'd rather be sober when I get on the ground again. So why did you bring me up here? I'm sure there's going to be a big surprise."
He smirked and nodded. "'ow about you close your eyes for a moment." You closed your eyes to have your body turned. You giggled and you swore you heard Francis chuckle himself.
"Francis I'm cold," you laughed slightly,"hurry up before I freeze!"
"Okay, open your eyes."
When your eyes opened, you looked down to see Francis on his knees, smiling sincerely towards you with both hands behind his back. Your hands immediately went to your face. He was holding out a velvet box.
"__________ __________, I 'ave known you and loved you for 5 years. I don't want you to be my girlfriend. Will you marry me and make me ze 'appiest man in Paris tonight?"
You let a few happy tears spill before you threw your arms around his neck and nodded. "Yes! Yes Francis! I will marry you! I will...!"
He pulled your face away and brought it to his, kissing you softly. A smile stuck on your face, the stubble on his chin brushing lightly against your face. When you both parted a moment later, he helped you up and kissed your forehead.
"You shouldn't be crying," he said with a smile, gently wiping away the tears on your face. "Your face is too pretty for tears. You're supposed to be 'appy for me!"
A smile was brought on your face,"It's okay...I'm happy Francis. I promise I'm happy."
He smiled back, opening the box to show a small diamond ring. Taking it, he gently slipped in on your ring finger. "__________ Bonnefois..." You said to yourself with a gentle smile. "I love you Francis..."
"I love you too." He whispered back, pressing another gentle kiss on your lips. "Well, we should probably get down. We cannot stay on ze tower for too long. I promised it would be quick."
Smiling, you nodded,"That's okay. I don't think many can say they have gotten engaged on top of the Eiffel Tower."
Both of you shared a quick laugh before you were both brought back down an engaged couple.
