You were bored, bored beyond belief. You sighed in exasperation. You have been connecting the dots on the ceiling, not with a pen mind you, to create images. Sure you could have gone outside but your mom was trying to make you garden and at the moment, you didn't want to be elbow deep in earthworms and mud. Who on earth thought it was a good idea to start gardening a day after it rained and the earth was still damp? You shook your head, trying to imagine what your crush was doing but then you heard your phone ring. Your heart skipped a beat. Your crush was calling you - it was...

  "'Ello love."

You breathed excitedly, going from laying down, to sitting upright in excitement,"Artie! I haven't heard from you in forever!"

"I told you to stop calling me 'Artie'..." He mumbled in complaint before continuing,"Listen ___________, I-I was wondering...it's rather lovely outside today and...y-you know...maybe we can go out for a-a stroll in the park...?"

Your heart melted listening to his British accent through the receiver of your phone. "Well...I seem pretty busy today but-"

"You're drawing circles on the ceiling, aren't you?" He cut off in a bored tone, making you hush up immediately. You could see him at his house, pinching the bridge of his nose and shaking his head a bit.

Sighing a bit, you shook your head,"You know me too well Artie." Sitting down so that your feet rested on the walls and that your head hung upside down, making your (h/c) hair fall to the floor, you spoke once more,"Yea, a walk in the park sounds cool."

"I'll be there in about ten minutes. See you soon love." With that, he hung up in what seemed a bit rushed, but you shrugged it off nonetheless.

Picking yourself off the couch, which mainly resulted in you falling flat on your face painfully against the ground, you went to your room and changed into shorts. Looking at the calendar, you noticed that the date was October 3rd.

Opening the window, the warm air brushed against your face,'It feels like summer again...' You thought with a small smile. You saw your mom was outside, shoveling dirt and wiping away sweat that was condensing on her forehead with a muddied glove, which caused mud to smear on her head.

Going back out into the living room, you waited patiently by the window for Arthur. You two had been the best of friends since Middle School. He was such a curious boy-silent and had odd hobbies such as sorcery. But that might've been why you loved him.

In a few moments, the young man who fit the description of 'Arthur Kirkland' came into view. He wore plain khakis and a shirt which was covered over by the union jack. His blond hair was just about as messy as ever and even from a distance, you could see those caterpillar brows.

Your mother spotted him and you saw them a quick 'hello' before you made yourself present to the two of them. "You don't mind if I hang out with Artie for a little while today?'

"I told you to quit calling me that!" He snapped towards you, causing you to laugh as you approached him.

Resting a hand on his shoulder, you grinned,"I'm sorry Arthur, but it's such a cute nickname." You pinched his cheeks, making his face go even more red as he swatted you away. "So can I mom?"

"I see nothing wrong with it. Though I wish you'd help me in the garden-"

Before she could continue, you grabbed Arthur's wrist and started sprinting, running down the street with him before crying back,"Thanks mom! Love you! Bye!"

When you were sure you were enough out of the way, you stopped, laughing whilst trying to catch your breath, making them come out a bit labored. "Well...t-that was...f-fun."

Arthur brought his hands to his knees and crumpled over a bit, sweat dripping off his forehead. Putting a hand to his back and rubbing it gently as he coughed, you tried to help him get some of his breath back. "No...i-it really w-wasn't."

He stood upright and wiped his shirt off a bit. "Well, now that that's over with, let's go for that stroll."

Both of you walked along the streets in silence. Every now and then, you would look at the Englishman's free hand which would sometimes brush your , making your face turn bright red.

"I wonder," You pondered put loud at one point,"Why it's so warm out today." Arthur looked curiously over towards you,"I mean, it's the beginning of October and I've already substituted most of my short sleeves with jeans."

"It's an Indian Summer love." He said with such ease. "When I lived in England, many people would call it 'St. Martin's Summer' which would usually end sometime in mid-November."

Laughing a bit, you brushed some of your (h/l)(h/c) hairs behind your ear,"All I know is that last week, there was frost when I woke up to go to school and today, it's nearly 80 degrees out."

You both chattered for a bit as you walked into the park. Every now and then, you noticed people whispering and pointing towards you, causing your face to go red. You knew they were probably pondering about how cute a couple you are.

Arthur noticed this too, since light pink would dust his face when a young woman would point towards the two of you.

"You seem a bit tired," Arthur said at one point and forced you to sit on a park bench. Both of you stretched out a bit, looking up at the clear, endless sapphire sky above you.

Neither of you spoke for a few minutes. You would sometimes gaze over at him nonchalantly before gazing at the sky once more. "Why did you want to take me out today Arthur? You never invite me out..."

He didn't answer for a brief moment. "Well," He started,"It was nice...and well...I-I need to tell you something..r-really important."

Looking over at him, you noticed his face was completely red. "Sure Arthur...anything."

"I w-wanted to tell you this...f-for a really long time now..." He said, his voice cracking every now and then. "But I...I really...I mean I think..." He smacked his forehead before turning towards you and grabbing your hands. You knew Arthur, he never showed any form of affection in public-including hand-grabbing,"I l-love you..."

  "A-Arthur..." You said breathlessly,"I...I-"

"I'm sorry if you don't feel the same way but I-I need to say something-" He looked away once more

"Arthur, look at me!" His emerald eyes locked with your (e/c) ones,"I love you too you idiot...how couldn't you ever see it...?" You broke free of his hold and wrapped your arms around him. "Idiot..."

His arms snaked around your waist and your head slid to his shoulder. "I'm glad love..." You felt an arm escape from behind you, only to have him pull away, grip onto your chin lightly and pull you into a simple kiss.

It didn't last long, but when he pulled away, he was smiling with a reddened face,"So...do you want to...go out on a date sometime...?"

Smiling, you rested your head on his shoulder,"Sure Artie...I'd love it." And you both sat there in silence with grins on your faces, looking upon the odd mixture of autumn and summer combine in front of you.
